Solar panels on the Costa Blanca, designed around your house
Sunrise Energy is a family-run installer working along the Costa Blanca. We survey the roof, look at how you use electricity, and only then propose a system. Advice in English, Spanish or Dutch, and the permits and paperwork handled for you.
One coast, many kinds of house
The same sun, very different roofs
The Costa Blanca is one long stretch of coast, but the houses on it are not alike. A villa in the north with a large tiled roof, a townhouse in a southern urbanisation with a flat roof and a solarium, an apartment with a shared roof and a finca inland each raise different questions before a single panel is placed.
That is why we do not work with standard packages. José visits the property, checks the roof, the shade and where the inverter can go, and we look at your electricity bills to see how much you use and when. The system follows from that.
As an estimate, a well-placed system on this coast produces roughly 1,250 to 1,550 kWh per kWp per year, east or west-facing roofs at the low end and south-facing roofs at the high end (EU PVGIS data). What your roof does depends on its angle, shade and how you use power, which is why we look first and put figures on paper after.
For what goes into the price of an installation, read how much solar panels cost in Spain. For how we install, see solar panel installation.

Projects customers have written about
Every town named here comes from the customer’s own review. We do not put pins on a map for places we cannot show.
Moraira: 16 panels, paperwork included
A home in Moraira with 16 panels. The customer mentions the whole process being organised for him, from the first contact to the paperwork.
“They organised the whole process, including the paperwork, perfectly.”
Wilbert G., Moraira, Google review, translated from Dutch Algorfa: one system over two roofs
Fourteen panels split between two structures: ten on the flat roof of the house and four on the garden shed, found together with the owners.
“Our 14 solar panels: 10 on the flat roof of our house and 4 on our garden shed.”
Brigitte D., Algorfa, Google review, translated from Dutch San Miguel de Salinas: a battery with back-up
Sixteen panels with a battery and a switch box that keeps the house supplied from the battery during a power cut, set up so it can be followed in the app.
“A special switch box that makes sure the power keeps coming from the batteries during a power cut. Very important.”
Jan W., San Miguel de Salinas, Google review, translated from Dutch Catral: good information first
Panels on a home in Catral, inland from the coast. What the customer remembers most is the explanation beforehand.
“Very satisfied, pleasant staff, but above all good information from José and Joëlle.”
Piet S., Catral, Google review, translated from Dutch

What the survey looks at
Four kinds of property, four sets of questions
No yields in this table on purpose: the same house type can do very differently depending on the roof. These are the questions that decide the design.
Villa
- When power is used
- Often during the day: pool pump, air conditioning, people at home.
- Roof and ownership
- Usually your own roof, sometimes with several roof faces to choose from.
- Other places for panels
- Carport, pergola or outbuilding.
- What we check on site
- Which roof face gets the most sun, shade from trees, cable route to the meter.
Apartment or communal roof
- When power is used
- Your own flat, plus shared services such as lifts or lighting if the community takes part.
- Roof and ownership
- Shared. The community of owners has to agree before anything is fitted.
- Other places for panels
- Rarely any.
- What we check on site
- Usable roof area, technical equipment on the roof, access, the community agreement.
Holiday home
- When power is used
- Only when you are there, with fridge, pool or alarm running while it stands empty.
- Roof and ownership
- Your own, but check urbanisation rules on what may be visible.
- Other places for panels
- Solarium, carport or pergola.
- What we check on site
- Monitoring you can follow from abroad, and whether a battery makes sense at all.
Finca
- When power is used
- Pumps, workshops and outbuildings, often during daylight.
- Roof and ownership
- Your own, often with a choice between house, garage and barn.
- Other places for panels
- Warehouse, canopy or a ground-mounted frame where there is room.
- What we check on site
- Condition of older roofs, distance to the meter, the daytime load of pumps.
The survey decides. This table only shows what it will be about.
Before you ask for a quote
What helps us give you a real proposal
You do not need all of this to get in touch. The more of it we have, the sooner the proposal fits your house.
- Your postcodeSo we can confirm you are in our area.
- 12 months of electricity billsOr the annual consumption on one bill.
- When you use most powerDaytime, evening, only in summer.
- Photos of the roofAnd of any carport, pergola or outbuilding.
- Other structures you would considerA second roof can change the whole design.
- Urbanisation or community rulesIf there are any, we check what they mean.
- What you want the quote to coverPanels only, battery, back-up, EV charger.
- A rough budgetSo we can tell you what is realistic.

North to south
Three parts of the coast, three kinds of roof
The Costa Blanca runs from the hills around Dénia to the flat land south of Elche. Pick a part of the coast to see what usually decides the design there.

More questions
Answers come from our own frequently asked questions, written by the Sunrise Energy team.
Which Costa Blanca towns does Sunrise Energy serve?
Customers have written about installations in Moraira, Algorfa, San Miguel de Salinas, Catral and Rojales, and we fitted the carport described on this site in Dénia. We also have pages for Alicante, Elche, Benidorm and Torrevieja. For any other town, send us your postcode and we will tell you straight away whether we can come.
Do I need a battery for a holiday home?
Often not. If the house stands empty for months, a battery has little to store for, and it rarely earns its cost back. It can still make sense if you want the house to keep running during a power cut, or if you spend long periods there with most use in the evening. We look at your bills and how you use the house before we suggest one, and we will tell you if we think you do not need it. More in our guide to solar for holiday homes in Spain.
Do coastal roofs need special mounting or maintenance?
Close to the sea, salt air and wind matter. We choose mounting and fixings for the location and check the wind exposure of the roof. Panels near the coast also benefit from being cleaned now and then. See maintaining solar panels in a coastal environment.
How do I compare quotes for different roofs?
Compare what is actually included: the number and type of panels, the inverter, mounting for your roof type, cabling to the meter, permits and legalisation, and what happens after the installation. A lower price for fewer panels on a worse roof face is not a better offer. We are happy to explain any quote, ours or someone else’s.
Are grants or IBI reductions available in my municipality?
That depends on the town hall and on the current national and regional schemes, which change. Some municipalities offer an IBI reduction for solar panels; where yours does, we can make the application for you. We tell you what applies once we know the address. General background is on our subsidies page.
Can I get an assessment without a standard package?
That is the only way we work. We look at the roof and your consumption first and design the system from there. There is no package to choose from.

Tell us where the house is, we will tell you what the roof can do
A survey first, then a proposal in writing. Estimates are estimates: firm figures only come once we have seen the roof and your bills.
