The Huerta de Murcia
Solar panels for homes with land, pumps and
outbuildings
The Huerta de Murcia is characterised by dispersed
homes, orchards, irrigation channels and the historic
irrigation network connected to the River Segura. Many
plots include garages, warehouses, workshops and
canopies alongside the main residence.
This creates several possibilities, but makes standard
advice less suitable. The roof of the house is not
always the best location. An outbuilding may offer
better orientation, more surface area or less shading.
Electricity consumption may also differ from that of an
urban home. Irrigation pumps, pool systems, workshops
and electric gates can create substantial daytime
demand.
Irrigation pumps
Where practical, pumps can operate during solar
production hours.
Garages and warehouses
Alternative roofs are included in the technical
assessment.
Trees and vegetation
We assess shading from citrus trees, palms and
other nearby vegetation.
Longer cable routes
The distance between panels, electrical board
and major loads is included in the design.
